Object is fragile but stable. Some bindings are loose. MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS: HANDLING INSTRUCTIONS: SIGNATURE: CONSERVATOR: Peter Mc Elhinney DATE: 10.07.23 LENDER: DATE: GENERAL CONDITION STATEMENT AND COMMENTS AFTER LOAN/EXHIBITION: Object was on long-term (c.20 years) display for exhibition Kappsäcken; Vega, and was suspended from the ceiling of the exhibition space with fishing wire. The wood components are almost all intact and are in good condition overall. Two scarf joints (one on each side) at one end of the boat are damaged- possibly through past improper handling. A piece of wood appears to have been lost from one of these damaged joints (see images below). Some of the leather and sinew bindings are loose, but stable. The object has a thick coating of dust overall. NOTES AND REMARKS: Object was surface cleaning overall with a soft brush and vacuum, in preparation for return to storage.
