As you will see in the following, we have now gucceeded in getting such cheap offers for the heliotype print, that this becomes cheaper than the halftohe /halftone, 1300 crowns for clichås and 1269 crowns for rrinting of 33 plates, total 2569 crowns &s compared with 1899 crowns för printing the 33 plates in heliotype/. Under these circumstances we have to ohoose between the heliotype of Malmö and the helliotype of G.L.A. You will note that tbe last-named firm regultes 3 ct. more a plåte than the. Malmö firm, but I hope that you will agree with us that this difference is more thah balanced € the much better work of G.L.A. To make our comparisons complete I want to call your atten. tion to the fact that Grohmann & Eichelberg offers the halftone clichés at a price of or. 34 a piece, making a total for the 33 clichés of cr. 1122, which is slightly less than G.L.A. offer, er. 1300 for the 33 clichés. Even making the clich&s by Grohmann & Eichelberg would make "the halftone plates more expensive than brintikg them by the suverior heliotype process. Under these oircumstances I feel that I must rr commend the execution of the 33 black plates in heliotype by G.L.A Now to the 8 ä-colour plates. This is a very expensive item er. 2400 for the elichås /idential offer by Grohmann & Eichelberg and G.L.A. / er. 1100 for printing. I hava taken a bdreöhl vart in cut- ting down the number of colour plates to a minimum and very strongly recommend that the execution of these 8 plates be authorized by your These mortuary urns are the most magnificent of all archaeo- logical material and it would be a great pity not to have these plates executed in colour. For these reasons I recommend that the 8 colour plates be executed by G.L.A. as it is always easier to have the clichés and the printing executed by the same firm / you will note that G.L.A. and the

0808, +$ 4 printing firm Tullberg are in the closest co-operation/. The text-printing is offered in close adherence to Tullberg”s offer of April 17th last year in the international inquiry as to prin- ting cost, whieh proved that Tullberg offers the nrinting at a price practically identical with the eheapest continentel firm, Under these circumstances I respectfully recommend that Palm- gren”s paper be executed by Generalstabens Litogrefiska Anstalt and Hasse W. Tullberg with the black plates in heliotype in accordance with Tullberg'es offers of Warch 31st this year. The total cost, er. 10.405 is a very heavy item but this 18 ungvoidable to make reasonable justice to the wonderful material. When considering the price charged for this publication you will ceartainly take into account that the Swedish crown, since we were forced last autumn to follow the British pound in discarding the gold "standard, has lost nearly 1/3 of its value. The present quotation being approximately 1 gold dollar = 5 Swedish crownse. When reporting on Palmgren”s paner I want to indicate to you that I will in the very near future approach you as to the printing of my paner Prehistorie sites of Nortnern Ohina. I will return to this matter within a very short tie when the originals to the plates are guite ready. With kindest regaréd Yours very truly

We have spent much time on this question, negotiating with the different firms and making repeated test-prints in order to obtain the best work at the lowest possible price. I send you under separate cover 27 teet-prints of one of Palm. gren”s plates. 20 of these come from Malmö Ljustrycksanstelt, /the printing office, mentioned by orofessor Halle/. They are all executed in "ljus. tryck" /heliotype/. 3 copies from Generalstabens Litografiska Anstal$ are executed in "autotypi" /halftone/. 4 copies from Generalstabens Litografiska Anstalt are in "ljus tryck" /heliotype/. When comparing all these prints you will note that the half.
