urna, lock, Lidded porcelain jar with underglaze blue decoration

This porcelain jar is paired with a lid. The container has an upright lip, a globular body and a foot, which narrows toward the base and slightly undercuts the body. The exterior is decorated with a design in underglaze cobalt blue of a dark tone. A register with stylized grass or leaf pattern is enclosed by a single line encircling the jar where the lip meets the body, and a double line at the shoulder. Below, two freely painted, stylized plant designs cover each side of the jar. The whole surface of the jar is coated with a bluish tinged glaze; the surface is covered with many bubble bursts and other imperfections. The footrim bears traces of kiln grit.
The lid is flat at the top and slopes from the shoulder down to the edge in a diagonal line. A vertical flange on the inside keeps the lid in place. The exterior surface has a painted decoration in underglaze cobalt blue and is coated with a bluish tinged glaze with many imperfections. The interior is unglazed.
This jar probably served as an everyday container for condiments and other foodstuffs.

이 유물은 뚜껑이 있는 항아리로 구부가 직립하고, 몸체가 구형(球形)에 가까우며 접지면을 향해 약간 좁아든 납작한 굽이 달려 있다. 몸체에서 굽으로 이어지는 부분에 약간의 음각선이 새겨져 있다. 약간 어두운 색조의 청화 안료를 사용하여 구부와 몸체가 만나는 부분에 선을 한 줄, 어깨부분에 선 두 줄을 두르고, 그 사이에 도안화된 풀 무늬를 그려 넣었으며, 그 아래 쪽(항아리 상부)에 자유롭게 그린 두 개의 풀 무늬를 병치했다. 항아리 전면에 청색을 띠는 유약이 시유되었으나 잡물이 많이 보인다. 접지면에 모래를 받쳐 구운 흔적이 남아 있다.
뚜껑의 윗면이 편평하고 어깨에서 가장자리까지 경사지게 형성하였다. 뚜껑 안쪽에 수직의 드림턱을 두어 항아리 구부에 맞물려 덮을 수 있도록 했다. 바깥면은 청화 안료를 사용해 무늬를 그려 넣었고 청색을 띠는 유약이 시유되었으나 잡물이 많이 보인다. 안쪽면에는 유약이 입혀지지 않았다.
이 항아리는 식재료를 보관하기 위한 일상용기로 사용된 것으로 추정된다.
