ÅRSTIDERNA I KONSTEN THE SEASONS IN ART: KÄRLEK OCH KONVENTION

Den japanska konstens naturmotiv och hänvisningar till årstiderna har ofta tolkats som en kärlek till naturen. Det kan också ses som ett behov av att "översätta" och förstå naturen i en kulturell form. Årstidsväxlingarna får stå för livets förgänglighet och förändringar, dar skiftningarna är det enda som består. Under Heian-perioden (794-1185) började hovaristokratin fira
årstidsväxlingarna, gärna genom poesiskrivande och uppläsning. Under Edo-perioden blev detta firande mer folkligt. Här visar vi föremål med höstmotiv.

Scenes of nature in Japanese art and allusions to the seasons have often been interpreted as a love of nature. It can also be seen as a need to "translate" and understand nature in a cultural form. Life's transience and changes are symbolized by the changing seasons, where the only continuity is change itself. During the Heian period (79L-1185) the court aristocracy started to celebrate the seasonal changes, often by writing and reading poetry. During the Edo period this type of celebration became more popular among the general public. Here we show objects with autumn motifs.
