This is a dance costume from Ecuador. It has been used by a man from the salasaca group at a festival called kasimusu that is celebrated in April every year. It is one of twelve major festivals of the year. The dancers ask for rain and good harvest. The colors of the scarfs are a symbol of the rainbow. For both everyday life and parties the men dress in black or white trousers and ponchos. The women dress in black skirts with belts and scarfs in brigth colors. As in many other cultures family is very important. You work, party and dance together.
