This was manufactured in the Atlas plant, Germany, probably before World War Two. There are no records available on when it started being used in the old locomotive workshops in Ljubljana. It is located in what was formerly the forge area of the workshops in Ljubljana. The hammer was used to forge larger and thicker parts for steam locomotives and wagons, such as driving motion parts, brake-rigging for steam locomotives, individual parts of buffers, various parts for couplings, etc. Sound: Switch on the electrical motor to start the belt transmission. A drive belt can then be engaged, using a pedal or an arm, to drive an eccentric disc. The rotational motion of the eccentric drives the connecting rod and this motion is in turn transmitted to the bow spring. The hammer suspended on a toggle joint moves up and down in a guide, and so strikes the anvil. Sound level: 100,2 dB Sound recordist: Boštjan Troha Photographer: Neža Renko Video recordist: Barbara Grilc
