It is thought to have been mobile and used to drive early farmwork machinery such as threshers, log splitters and circular saws. At startup the engine runs on gasoline and ignites via a spark plug, but when heated it runs mainly on kerosene, which was a cheaper type of fuel in the time when the engine was used.
