Husmodell På nordvästkusten bodde vintertid hela släkter tillsammans i stora plankhus. De största husen kunde rymma över 50 personer. Under som- maren flyttade familjerna runt mellan sina fiske- och jaktplatser. Idag bor de flesta i hus med all tänkbar modern utrustning. Plankhusen används mest till fester och sammankomster. Denna husmodell är en exakt kopia av ett plankhus. Sådana husmodeller tillverkades under 1800-talet på beställning av samlare och museer. Figuren som håller upp taket föreställer troligen släktens anfader. Modellen donerades till museet 1904. House model On the Northwest coast whole families lived in big houses, built of wooden planks. The biggest ones could accommodate more than 50 persons. In the summertime, the families left the houses to move from one fishing place to another. Today many of the big houses are used for feasts, and people live mostly in modern houses with all necessary equipment. This house model is an exact copy of a ’big house’. Such models were produced in the nineteenth century for collectors and museums. The figure holding up the roof represents the family’s ancestor.Stäng
