"Breaches of fidelity on the part of the man are always considered to cause bad luck and discomfort for him. In order to avoid the sad consequences of an infidelity committed, men sometimes wear special amulets, which are considered to protect against the accidents which would otherwise inevitably follow such a crime. But the marshals have not bitten their heads to the point of shame that it does not bother them to let others know of their misfortune. They therefore combine the amulet of infidelity with a hunting amulet, i.e. in the horn of the hunting amulet there are two kinds of «medicines», partly a medicine that provides good hunting happiness, partly one that protects against the unpleasant effects of adultery. Fig. 178 shows an amulet of the type described above. It consists of two small horn tips of 8 cm in length. Both horns contain magic medicine. On each horn are seven small rings of antelope skin (ears?). The horns hang on a sense knot, which has been tied around the owner's neck or arm." (p. 279, von Rosen, 1916, translated from Swedish).
