0253 SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION FREER GALLERY OF ART WASHINGTON, D. C. June 17, 1948 Dear Dr. Andersson: Thank you very much for your letter of 3 May regarding the little "allegea" Kansu pot of which I sent you a photograph, I just thought you would be interested to know that I tried the washing test and the results were as you had anticipated. Now, I am keeping it with one- quarter of the surface washed clean as an example of a fake and the method of ädetecting it. I am very grateful to you for your suggestion, With kind regards, Sincerely yours, Pa RE Spa John A, Pope, Aesistant Director. Dr. J. G. Andersson, e/o Museum of Far Eastern Antiguities, Storgaten 41, Stockholm, Sweden. Please forward,
