Det här elegant och välbalanserade kalebassformade kruset har en lökformig underkropp som smalnar av upp mot den smala, korta midjan för att sedan övergår i en rund överkropp. Krusets mynning har en invändig kant som håller det kupolformade locket på plats. Ett öronformat, platt handtag binder ihop över och underkropp. Handtagets yttersida har en åsformad upphöjning i mitten som ser ut som en ådra och får handtaget att likna ett löv. Högst upp på handtaget finns en utskjutande ögleformad del. Troligen har locket haft en liknande ögla på den nu trasiga knoppen, vilket gjorde det möjligt att fästa locket vid kannan med ett snöre. Tvärs över från handtaget sitter den runda pipen som reser sig vertikalt i en böj upp från krusets kropp. En bit på pipens övre del har lagats. Ytan är rikt dekorerad med skuren piondekor i låg relief. Ett band med stiliserade lotusblad avgränsar dekoren under locket och två liknande band utgör tillsammans med två smala dubbla band en krage runt midjan. Ett annat band med lotusblommor går runt kroppen längst ner vid foten. Locket är dekorerat med motiv av lotusblommer. Kruset är täckt av glasyr i grönaktig ton som pölar sig i de skurna linjerna. Basen har en låg fotring som bär spår av brännugnsstöd.

Under Goryeo tillverkades en mängd keramikföremål i form av olika grönsaker, bland annat kalebass. Det finns kalebassformade krus gjorda av sämre material och kvalitet och som användes av folket, men det här överdådigt dekorerade celadonkruset användes troligen i ett hushåll som tillhörde överklassen.

In the shape of a gourd, this elegant, well-balanced ewer has a bulbous lower body that slightly elongates toward the short, constricted waist and extends into a spherical upper body. The lip of the ewer has a staggered ridge (gallery) for keeping the round, domed lid in place. An ear-shaped, flat handle connects the top and bottom sections. The outer surface of the handle has a leaf vein-like ridge that gives the handle the appearance of a leaf. At the highest point of the handle there is a tendril-shaped lug. Though partly broken off, it can be assumed that the lid had a similar lug on top which facilitated securing the lid to the ewer with a cord. On the opposite side of the handle, a round spout raises vertically from the body of the ewer and curves gently at the top. A broken area on the top of the spout has been restored. The surface is densley decorated with an incised peony design. A band of stylized flower petals closes off the design at the top, just below the lid. Two bands of lotus petals form a collar above and below the waist, with thin double bands separating the two sets of lotus petals. Another band of lotus petals encircles the body at the base. The lid is decorated with a lotus flower motif. The entire surface is coated with a greenish-tinged glaze that pools in the incised lines. The base has a low footrim with traces of clay pads used during the firing process.

Gourd-shaped ewers, along with a range of other vegetable shaped ceramics, appeared in the Goryeo period in great variation. While there are gourd-shaped ewers of inferior material and quality used by commoners, this lavishly adorned celadon ewer was probably used in the household of an upper-class family.

균형 잡힌 기형이 우아한 이 조롱박 모양의 주전자는 둥그런 아랫부분의 몸통 위를 늘여 짧고 잘록한 허리로 잇고 그 위로 다시 구(球)형의 몸통 윗부분을 올린 형태이다. 주전자의 입구에는 낮은 단(段)을 두어 윗면이 원판형인 뚜껑을 받쳐서 덮을 수 있도록 했다. 사람의 귀 모양으로 휜 손잡이는 납작하고 몸통 윗부분과 아랫부분에 각 끝이 연결되어 있다. 손잡이의 바깥면 가운데를 따라 길게 솟은 부분이 잎맥을 표현한 듯 보여 손잡이의 전체적인 모양은 잎을 묘사한 것으로 생각된다. 뚜껑에 달린 고리 구멍은 일부가 부서졌으나 손잡이에 위쪽에 달린 것과 유사한 모양이었을 것으로 생각되는데, 이 둘에 서로 끈을 꿰어 뚜껑과 몸체를 연결하도록 했다. 손잡이의 반대편에는 둥그런 귀때(주구)가 몸통에서 나와 수직으로 곧추섰는데 그 윗부분이 바깥쪽으로 완만하게 휘었다. 귀때의 부서진 부분이 수리 복원되었다. 몸통의 위아래 모두 모란 무늬로 가득 채워 장식했다. 도안화된 꽃잎 무늬의 띠는 뚜껑 바로 아래에, 연꽃잎 무늬 띠는 허리의 위와 아래에 돌렸으며, 허리에는 두 줄의 음각선을 둘렀다. 또다른 연꽃잎 무늬 띠가 아랫부분 몸통의 하단에 돌려졌다. 전면에 시유된 녹색을 띤 유약은 음각선에서 뭉쳤다. 바닥의 납작한 굽에는 번조시 받친 내화토 자국이 있다.

조롱박 모양의 주전자들은 다른 식물 모양의 도자기들과 더불어 고려시대에 다양하게 나타난다. 사용한 태토의 질과 조형 수준이 낮은 조롱박 모양의 주전자는 평민들이 사용했고, 이 유물과 같이 화려하게 장식된 청자 주전자는 귀족층의 가정에서 사용했을 것으로 추정된다.
