A seated ibis bird made in five pieces, body, tail, neck, head, legs. The head with detailed markings in the beak has eyes inlaid with glass paste. The body is made in wood and covered with gold. The upper part of the tail displays a meticulously executed pattern of engravings. The legs in bronze are also worked in great detail. A transverse beam connects the three foremost claws. Each leg originally had four tenons; one of them is missing. X-ray images indicate that there is no hidden content inside the body. Radiocarbon dating(?) is said to have been done in a lab in Boston on a sample from the wooden body confirming its authenticity as ancient (information provided by Ernst Nilsson). A plug underneath indicates from where the sample was taken.
