Detached page from a Shah-u-Gada manuscript. Miniature shows the prince sitting on a carpet in a room with wall decorations, bare-headed having a servant pouring him some wine in a cup. A door is half-open behind him and over their heads is an empry white space probaly meant to be written upon. In front of the prince, six men are sitting in a semi-circle, three of them musicians (an oud, a nay a dafdaf, one is singning or reading poems one of them is bare-headed and seem to have been drinking too much wine. This scene has been enlaged out from the usual frame for this manuscript and in the enlargement there is a man standing and it also approaches the outline of the scene towards the dervish who is sitting in the lower part of the right margin. There are several plates with pomegranades, wine bottles and burning candle-sticks in the room. All men have very colourfull dresses and turbans in contrast to the dervish, dressed in brown outside of the picture. Back side, nasta’liq in two columns. Rigid paper album.
