  • Cast. Slender, hollow cast metal tube, flanged at each end, globular swelling with wave raised in relief nearer one end, with three ridges in relief on top and below the globe. One rivet hole.

  • Previously owned by Anders Nilsson, consul Teheran, 1930s. He died in 1950. Bought from his wife Konsulinna K. Nilsson, Malmö, 1950. Has belonged to Iranska Kompaniet, Stockholm.

  • Normally called mace heads, though not strong enough, maybe mounted symbol of rank. A fine one said to come from Luristan has inscription for Naram-Sin (Dossin 1962: pl. xxv.15).
