Object is in good condition overall with some light surface dust. Grass fibre components are embrittled and prone to loss; discolouration of grass between that on PR and on PL front of figure possibly from uneven light exposure during exhibition? Feather components dirty and misshapen in places, otherwise in good condition. Plant fibre ear decorations are dry and fragile but intact. Wooden piece at nose shows evidence of prior wood boring insect damage. This appears to be inactive. Surface cleaned overall using puffer brush and light vacuum. Object was left on display mount, with mount base fixed to a palette with wooden platform and covered with a custom-made Tyvek cover for storage. A mount solution was made to protect the figure’s head feather from being crushed. MOUNTING INSTRUCTIONS: HANDLING INSTRUCTIONS: Grass fibre elements are fragile and prone to loss. Careful handling required to avoid loss of this material.
