Name and identification of character
A peddler, velendek (Sin.).
Context
The story portion in Kolam.
Material
Wood, Vel-kaduru (Nux vomica).
Iconography
The turban is shaped differently from many of the other masks. It appears as if the turban has been shaped to carry some load. The front of the turban is decorated with patterns of green leaves, separated from each other by red lines. The face is broad and painted in an ash colour, alu pata (Sin.). The eyes and the deep eye sockets give the impression of a man looking up, perhaps aware of the load on the head. The moustache is in the shape of cork-screws. The mouth is closed and the lips delicately painted. The ears are crudely sculpted.
