Barkmålning, katterna och kråkorna.
I en opossums skepnad besöker en man sin svåger och blir bjuden att sitta vid hans eld. En av svågerns två systrar uppskattar inte besöket, utan bränner mannen så att han måste hoppa i floden för att lindra sin smärta.
Senare återkommer mannen med några krigare och dödar de två systrarna med spjut. Svågern är sorgsen men äter ändå med honom och i den fisk de äter finns nu systrarnas andar.
Efter måltiden förvandlas den sörjande brodern till en flock kråkor som sveper ner och samlar ihop fiskbenen (benen från de döda systrarna). Han lägger benen i en korg av ark och korgen lägger han i en ihålig stock.
Systrarnas andar finns nu i de två katterna som bär stocken tillsammans med några andra djur. Männen i skepnad av opossum och kråkor, dansar en ceremoniell dans för de döda kvinnorna. Sedan stiger alla upp till himlen.
Den ihåliga stocken formar sig till Vintergatan, som vi kan se på natthimlen – platsen för de dödas andar. Text i "Den skapande människan"

"A man sees his brother-in-law, a member of a far away tribe, approaching him. This man is now a possum. The oncoming man sees his brother-in-law beckoning to him, when he comes up to him, he is invited to sit by the fire with his brother in law´s sisters, who have just returned from hunting. One of the sisters is glad to have him there, but not so with the other. She pretends to push some shellfish into the fire. The burns he sustains cause head pains, so he goes swimming to try to relieve the pains. Whilst he is swimming, the girls´ brother complains of the treatment that their brother-in-law is receiving. The brother-in-law comes out of the water and tells them that he is returing to his own country and people. When he arrives home, he gathers some fighting men who return with him and spear the two women. Having been avenged, the man says that he will remain with his brother-in-law. But the brother is sad because his siters are dead and he does not appreciate the company. However, they have a meal of catfish which now contain the spirits of the dead sisters. After the meal, the avenging brother-in-law changes into crows and flies down to gather the remains of the meal (fishbones) from the river and places them in a paperbark basket. These bones are the bones of the dead sisters. They are placed in the hollow log. (This is a Hollow Log ceremony for the placing of human bones in such a log.) The two cats (now containing the spirits of the dead sisters) and other animals help to stand up the hollow log. The men (possums and crows) then make a corroboree for the dead women and all go up into the sky. The hollow log forms the Milky Way shich we see in the sky today - the place of Departed Spirits."
