On the concave wide side, the pin continues down a bit as a ridge in the middle of the side, while the convex is completely smooth. Length: 32.c.m. Max: width 15 cm. From Ma-Ngete, a tribal to Ma-Rutse. Hoes of this kind are used when working in the field. 14 such picks are the usual purchase price for the girl that a resident of Ma-Rutse kingdom has chosen for his wife.

In his original catalogue, Holub attributes two spears (no 6 and 8) and the hoe blade (no. 10) to Ma-Ngete "a branch of the Marutse tribe" ["...den Ma-rutse zweigstamme der Ma-N'gete..."]. More probably, Holub's informant refered to the word for "foreigners" (mang'ete) rather than an unidentified "tribe". As noted in the 1950s by Max Gluckman: "Though the Lozi look down on mang’ete, the foreigners…the Wiko are the only people whom they are reluctant to marry" (Gluckman 1959:6).
