Musical instrument. The name in Korean is Janggo/Janggu. Hollow hourglass-shaped body finished with lacquer. Three different types of flowers and grapes successively painted on on both left and right sides of the body. Eight strings coloured in orage with metal hoops attached to both heads, which can be fastened by adjusting the leather patches. Embroidered leather patches are in red and blue. It is played by beating two heads with two different types of sticks. This instrument is often played alongside other musical instruments for a type of performance called 'Pungmul', traditioinal Korean folk tradition that includes music, dance and singing.
