Robert P. Wild obtained the dagger from Nangode in the Northern Territories of the Gold Coast in 1937. He writes to Dr. Lagercrantz in 1939 "A similar weapon was forwarded to me from Bole also in the Northern Territories of the Gold Coast, but in this case nearly on the Western Side near the French Frontier of the Cote d´Ivoire. This specimen was made by a Lobi man; who are immigrants from French Territory. I gave this specimen to the British Museum."
