NO-TEATERNS VÄRLD

No-teatern är en av världens äldsta ännu spelade teaterformer. No omfattar drama, dans, musik, sång och recitation samt konsthantverk. Den genomsyras av andlighet, zenbuddistisk estetik och samurajetik och är symbolisk, stiliserad och återhållsam. Rötterna finns i både folkliga och aristokratiska uppträdanden. Genom historien har no ofta fått stöd av samurajmakten. Män spelar alla roller, huvudrollsinnehavaren bär mask.

THE WORLD OF NO THEATRE
No theatre is one on of the world's oldest types of theatre still practised today. It includes drama, dancing, music, singing recitation and handicraft. No theatre is imbued with spirituality, Zen Buddhist aesthetics and samurai ethics and it is symbolic, stylized and restrained. The roots are to be found in both popular and aristocratic performances. Through history, no has often been supported by the samurai rulers. All parts are played by men and the main actor wears a mask.
