You ean hardly imagine how alone I felt when I began my research on the prehistory of China. I had the haartiest sunnort of Dr. Ting and Dr. Yong but none of us could imagine how events were going to \| develop into a vast field of rtesearch. No better reward could be offered to myhumble beginnings than the growing up of a new generation of Chinese students of the pre- history of China.
