I am most grateful for the chance of examining the two fragments of moulds which you kindly sent me on loan. As I am revising for republication my account of the technique of bronze casting it is obvious that I must take advantage so far as possible of recent finds. The article on the subject in the 4th. part of the An-yang Report seems to me incomplete. The most satisfactory means of dealing with the situation would be for me to quote Mr. Karlbeck's paper and the accompanying illustrations. But I am faced with the necessity of getting my book out in time for the Exhibition, It is wanted by the Committee, and without this opportunity for sale, I doubt whether enough copies would be bought to cover the cost of production. Do you think it would be possible for me to have the advantage of seeing an advance copy of Mr. Karlbeck's paper? I am writing to also on this question. =: 5 I gather from your kind answer to my queries relating to the copper objects, found by you in Kansu ,that they have not yet been thoroughly examined either as regards metallic constitution or mode of fashioning, Perhaps it may be found that they contain a small proportion of tin. This question is a very important one to me in regard to what I am now writing.
