At the same occasion I am addressing a letter to Wlle Colani and take the pleasure of en- elosing herein a copy of the same. i It would immensely facilitate my campaign in raising further funds 1f 1t were possible for Mlle Colani to send us, say within the end of this year, the part of the Båie 4”Along collection intended for this museum. As you will see I have touched upon this matter in my letter to her. Dear M. Coedås, you had the very great kindness to suggest that you would give us some specirons of Han or other early pottery än re turn for the Han tomb-bricks which we sent you from Shanghai. If 4t 18 convenient to you to send us these pottery svecimens by now, please kindly dö so, as it would givo me much satisfaction to have these spe- eimens included in tho exhibition which I will arrange here in the early part of October. Dear K. Coedåés, please accept my heartiest compliment and thanks for all wonderfull help, supnort and sympathy with which you favoured me during my work in Tonkin. Stockholm, June 14, 1938. Monsieur le Directeur de 1”Eeole franca 18e d'Extreme-Orient G. Coedés, HANOI. Dear Mu. Coedés, I have to thank you most sincerely for your kind letter of Nay 27, from which I learn that Mlle Colani has proceeded to Vachai in order to carry on archaeological field-work in the Baie d”Along re- gion. Professor Karlgren has acted very well in this matter. As he could foresee that the decision of our government would take a long time he mrsuaded our committee to guarantee the smaller Baie d”Along amount from other funds, and conseauently he could wire you at once in this matter. The government decision has not yet been made but we hope that our petition will be granted for the whole amount. At the same time I am now trying to raise further funds in order to return for a second campaign to Indo-China provided this scheme will meet your kind anproval. Provided that I can obtain the necess- ary additional funds I am planning to return for the season 39-40, arriving in the autumn and lesving in April. If we get the government”s permission we can provide such amount as will be desirable for Mlle
