What has happened with those marvelous bronze vessels from Hun Yuäian in northern Shansi, which I had the special priviloas to see in your home, in 1925? I fear that you are not willing to send out photographs of these tbeasures, and imagine that your price of these . wonderful specimens would be so high that we could not think of buy- ing them, At any rate, I want to assure you that any photographs sent to us will be returned to you if you desire so, or otherwise kept in our archive without being reproduced under any circumstances. In return for the courtesies ghown to this institute I will be very glad to send you such publications as we will edit from time to time, and I forward to you under separate cover, a little pamphlet deal. ing with our recent acquisitions. January 31,1928 Dear Mr, Wannieck, In the August 6th number of Lfillustration I saw some reproductions of prehistoric vessels from Kansu be- longing to your collection. Recently Professor Siren, at his return from Paris, Has told me about these specimens and the possibility of a new consignment soon arriving. As we have a very large collection of these things which we are just golng to publish, we are very much in- terested in your specimen& and would appreciate very much to receive from you photographs on a larger scale witn a brief description and statement of the price. Professor Siren has told me that you have found difficulty in ecleaning your specimens from the calcarious incrustations. We met the same difficulty but succseeded very well in removing the calcarious matter by means of exceedingly diluted hydro-ehloric 1: 3000. However, this treatment is a very dangerous one and I could eventually put my assistant at your disposel for having your material cleaned according to the methods developed in the preparation of our very extensive material. When I visited Paris in the fall of 1925, I had the advantage through the mediation of Professor Siren to see your marvelous collection and was specially struck by some beautiful Sythian bronzes from China, Have you still these fine specimens in your possess- $ion, or eventually some more recently arrived Sythian specimens? If so is the case, would you kindly provide me with photographs, measurements
