Olgla Professor H. Hesselman, Djursholm. Dear Professor Hesselman, I herewith have the hehour: to submit to your kind perusal a memorandum of the financial needs of our institutien, the East-Asiatic Cellvetions. I lev add ön statements presented by pro- minent sinelegues and archeologists on the (upp rasna of the prehistoric material now expesed for study in this institute. It has been generally considered that this material, Witeh was entirely unknown until 1921, when I made my first find, is a key- LA material te the study of the prehistory of China and the Far East (and its importance is further strengtentk- by the remsrkable fatlerity tween the painted ceramics feund by us in China and slällar discever/ in the near East. In fact, a censiderable literature has aptäng| ox the gquestien of cultural migrations acress Central-Asia, as evidence/ by these painted ceramics. I respectfully ask you to submit my memorandum te the Rockefeller Foundation in the hope that the said Bord will kindly consider the possibility ef extending finäbiel support te our research- work. | Te support our respectful appeal to the said Bgra I can only add that here is an archeological material of unusual in- terest and such overwhelming volume that we hardly can tackle our problems whithin reasonable time, except with the cooperation of these collaborators ad mentioned in my memorandum and with sufficient funds te publish our meoneo- graphs Mitn reference to the question ef printing the Palaeontelogia Nyval
