23 cm lång spansk dolk eller kniv av järn som av en infödd gravgrävare för Mr. Dade uppgivits vara funnen i samma grav som kärlen nris 4 och 5 i denna samling. I brevet av den 11/8 skriver Mr. Dade om fyndet av "the Spanish dagger": "I have the Spanish dagger which the
huaquero gave me when I purchased the articles from him. "---"The huaquero described to me in great detail how his digging tool struck the metalic dagger and thrilled him to the heights -- he was sure it was a gold huaca and why not? Would you ever have belived that it was a piece of iron? Anyway, the dagger is in very fine condition and I cleanded some of the crud off it and sprayed it to preserve it.
